To Our Health – Mental & Physical: Four Ways to Use Essential Oils

Taking care of our health – both physical and mental – has always been a vital part of our lives.  (Or should be – right?)

And lately we’ve been extra reminded of how important it is to do what we can do. To feed our bodies good food. (Aren’t we fortunate to have so many fantastic local options for doing that?)   To get enough rest. (Just put the remote down. Netflix – we’ve seen enough.)  To feast our minds on positive messages. (Delete that Facebook comment before you regret it, trust us.)  To exercise and stretch our bodies. (Thank goodness for our Swamp Rabbit Trail.)

There are a hundred other little (and big) ways to improve our mental health and to feel better in an impossibly difficult time.  (Write a letter. Send a kind text. Smile. Tell a corny joke to your kids. Start a list of what you’re grateful for.)

And read this post from our friends at iViva. Katie and her team bring a lot of great advice and good vibes to their corner of the internet and we’re thankful for them.  Essential oils are just one way to make your home smell better, to encourage a brighter mood and to help in a handful of other delightful ways.

If you’re like me you don’t have to look far from where you’re sitting right now to see a bottle of essential oil: scattered beside my work area, by my favorite chair in the living room, on my bedside table …  all the places.

However, if you are new to EOs, or are just looking for fresh ways to use your oils, we have a few ideas for you!

• Diffusing •

One of the easiest ways to use your oils is diffusing. You know my strong belief that #oilsdonthavetobreakthebank, but… if you’re trying to make them stretch and still want the benefits daily, you can add just a few drops into a diffuser and run it periodically throughout the day.

• Dryer Balls •

Drip a few drops of your favorite scent onto wool dryer balls, or an old, clean washcloth, before running a dry cycle!

• Daily Routine •

Dab a little (diluted) oil on your wrists and the back of your neck as you’re walking out the door. Or, even better, try one of our pre-diluted  rollerball oils! You can toss it in your pocket or bag and reapply all day long!

Know it’s going to be a stressful day? Lavender* is the answer. Tired? Try citrus* or peppermint*!

*Don’t forget to dilute your oils for use on your skin!

• Powder Room Pep-up •

Drop inside the TP roll on your toilet paper holder.
