Here’s Where to Find the Love in TR This Valentine’s Day

We know that love and Travelers Rest go hand in hand together.

We’ve got the bumper sticker to prove it.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and regardless of what you feel about the heart-shaped holiday, we’re guessing you can get on board with celebrating good food and a night out.

Think about these local options for a way to honor love and romance and just all around in general good feelings this February.  Goodness knows, we could all use some sweet treats and a reason to wear that good looking scarf we got for Christmas.

(And this list isn’t just about restaurants – some downtown stores are sharing all the love too.)

An Upcountry Love Story

Upcountry Provisions is hosting a Valentine’s Dinner on Tuesday, February 14.  Dinner will include food sourced locally from the Upstate.  There’ll be bread, of course, and local mushrooms in the soup and a gluten free option.  The list of delicious sounding offerings includes words we can barely pronounce and ravioli and a dessert they are calling Dueling Truffles.  Pretty sure we don’t mind if the truffles battle it out as long as we get to sample them.  We also spied a delectable dessert called Kouign Amann on their Instagram feed recently and they look so inviting they might be the hit of the evening.  Craft beer and wine will be included as well.

$48 per person

Whistle Stop

If you and your love want to ride to the Whistle Stop on Valentine’s Day you’ll have several options.  Of course you can order from their regular menu but for this special occasion you can chose a meal prepared especially for the holiday by the Whistle Stop’s Chef Ken Frazier.

You can visit the Whistle Stop’s website for the full menu details.  We saw words like lobster and swordfish, fried green tomatoes and chocolate covered strawberries.  You know – words that sounds delicious!

If you can’t celebrate on Tuesday itself, the Whistle Stop will be featuring this special menu option on Saturday and Monday evenings as well.

The Leopard Forest

As if coffee wasn’t enough to show you love someone, right?

On Tuesday, February 14, you’ll have more than just coffee to love.  You’ll have something sweeter.  Cupcakes, to be exact.  And not just any cupcakes, cupcakes crafted by the Bossy Baker.  (They look divine!)

The Bossy Baker will have two flavors of cupcakes – Chocolate with Chili Flakes and Blackberry Caramel – at The Leopard Forest from noon to 3.

You can pair one of those beauties with The Leopard Forest’s dark chocolate raspberry flavored coffee they will be featuring on Valentine’s Day too.

(There’s even been some chatter about the coffee shop announcing some new in-house made syrup flavors that afternoon.)   This seems like it might be the place to be for the afternoon, while you get little word done before you gear up for the evening itself.

The Glade

Nothing says Valentine’s Day like a little pampering.

The Glade Salon and Day Spa is offering a Valentine’s special.  You can purchase two 30 minute massages for $65 or you can choose a 60 minute hot stone massage with a hot towel foot wrap and aromatherapy for $60.  (Goodness, just typing about that aromatherapy has us thinking of calling The Glade right now.)

These specials are good for any booking before February 14 or for any gift certificates purchased by Valentine’s Day.

This way you can get the deal, but give the gift of a future time of relaxation.  And listen, we won’t tell a soul if this is one of those Valentine’s Day gifts you purchase for your own special self.

Shortfield’s

There is simply not going to be a shortage of options for dinner in Travelers Rest Tuesday night.

Shortfield’s is offering a three course meal with several options for each course.  The menu looks fantastic and includes options like she crab soup, filet mignonette, and golden tile fish, just to get your mouth watering a bit.  (We even saw that they have house made crackers!)

There’s also dessert, of course, so save room.  You can choose between a torte with chocolate ganache or pavlova.  (If you’ve never tried pavlova, it’s a real treat!)

Prowse

Prowse on Main is hosting a Valentine’s event on Saturday, February 11 starting at 11 a.m.

They’ll be having delicious macaroons by Jonathan Caleb of Jonathan Caleb Cake.  (Have you seen these macaroons?  They’re too pretty!)  And to go along with that macaroon, you can enjoy a mimosa.

Browse will also be having a giveaway and hosting a sale.

Mimosas and macaroons and a little sale shopping?  That’s a sweet Saturday.

White Rabbit Fine Art Gallery

For when you want to give your sweetheart a little something other than flowers or food, The White Rabbit Fine Art Gallery has just what you need.  (And don’t be defined by titles, you guys.  Maybe your “sweetheart”  this Valentine’s Day is the UPS guy or the teller at your bank or your Aunt Sue.)

Various artists have created “small” works of art for a small price and they are available all this week at the gallery. Most small pieces are only $20!  That’s less than a dozen roses and lasts much longer.  (You can buy your art pieces right up until (and on) Valentine’s Day.)

Restaurant 17

If you haven’t yet made the drive down Highway 25 to the picturesque Restaurant 17, that might be the best way you could spend your Valentine’s evening this year.  The views are incredible and they might inspire some love all on their own.

Restaurant 17 is hosting a special Valentine’s Day dinner on February 14 from 5:30 to 9:30.  The menu is available online and of course you’ll find the romantic classics like chocolate covered strawberries and champagne, but mixed int with all of the fancy words we spotted some intriguing dishes like tomato couscous soup , crispy chicken skins, mussels and oysters, beet mascarpone mousse and more.

An exotic dinner with an enchanting view – that sounds like the perfect recipe.
