Music events in the Travelers Rest area cater to folks looking to listen to or even jam with other local musicians. And luckily, most of these concert series, open mics, and jam sessions last throughout the year, too.
Music in the Park
Trailblazer Park — Travelers Rest’s new performing arts and cultural center — brings musical acts ranging from jazz to folk to beach music to the stage during its summertime Music in the Park series.
The annual series runs May through July and then again in September, with concerts every Saturday night beginning at 7 p.m. These fun weekend events are free, but food, drinks (including craft beer), and treats may be purchased from local food trucks that set up right by the amphitheater.

Pickin’ and Grinnin’
At My Sister’s Store on Friday nights, local musicians drop in and gather ’round to play together. Someone picks a key, and everyone else joins in. You can bring your instrument or just your listening ear to enjoy.
This year-round event, scheduled for every Friday night at 7 p.m., meets in the large room below My Sister’s Store on Main Street in Travelers Rest. It’s free to attend.

Music in the Woods
Music in the Woods is exactly what it sounds like: local acts set up at Paris Mountain‘s outdoor amphitheater, with the state park’s woods and trails as their backdrop.
This concert series goes September through October, with events every Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The concerts are free to attend with park admission.

Open Mic on the Trail
My Sister’s Store now also hosts the weekly Open Mic on the Trail. Recording artist and Travelers Rest native Jacob Johnson and local singer/songwriter Gray Lee usually emcee the free event, which features both live music and the occasional poet or comedian.
Open Mic Nights run year-round. They take place each Tuesday night, beginning at around 7 p.m. and going through around 9:30 p.m. Those who want to perform should arrive early — 6 p.m. is suggested — and sign up.

Music on the Mountain
Just a stone’s throw from Travelers Rest, Table Rock State Park hosts its Music on the Mountain series, which they dub “bluegrass jam sessions.” Local musicians of all ages are invited to bring their acoustic instruments and play along to this traditional mountain music.
Music on the Mountain takes place every second Saturday at Table Rock State Park Lodge from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The jam sessions are free to attend. Attendees are encouraged to bring refreshments for everyone to share.
