Students at TRHS Invite You to Second Annual Auto Show

We first met Elizabeth Canupp at one of the Travelers Rest Farmers Markets.  She is a teacher at Travelers Rest High School and she was manning a table with her FFA students selling cookbooks as a fundraiser.

Elizabeth has worked tirelessly in her role as FFA Advisor and Agricultural Education Teacher at the high school and her students sing her praises when asked about Mrs. Canupp.

In order to help raise support for their many projects, Elizabeth and her students have sold cookbooks filled with local recipes (as we know – hopefully you own one by now) and are currently preparing to host the Second Annual Auto Show.

We asked Elizabeth and her students to put together an article for us so we could help support their efforts and let our readers know how they can show their support too.

Thanks, guys!

For the second year Travelers Rest High School will be hosting their Annual Auto Show fundraiser. The event will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 10am-2pm at Travelers Rest High School. Proceeds from the Auto Show will be used to fund classroom supplies for the Agriculture Program as well as competition and travel funds for the Travelers Rest FFA Chapter.

The Auto Show is planned and executed by members of TRHS FFA. Agricultural Education teacher Elizabeth Canupp said, “The Auto Show is a wonderful opportunity for students to develop their leadership potential and to work on their communication skills.” Last year there were 95 cars participating and over 200 people attending.

“The community support shown for our organization is awesome,” said FFA President, Hunter Capps.

When asked about the Auto Show, TRHS Principal Lou Lavely said, “My initial reaction (last year) was that I thought it was a very unique idea, it’s not something that anybody had ever proposed before. It is a great event that ties together the school theme of We Are TR as well as Travelers Rest being one community, cultivating minds and expanding possibilities.”

The Auto Show has something for everyone, whether you have a vehicle to enter or just want to see awesome vehicles. Pre-registration is available on the Auto Show website for $15 for anyone wanting to exhibit a vehicle. Day-of registration will be $20. There are great raffle prizes and this year there will also be a 50/50 raffle and a Kids Zone. The Kids Zone will have a bouncy house as well as face painting. Concessions will also be available for purchase throughout the event. This will also be the first opportunity to purchase plants grown by the agriculture students throughout the year.

If you are interested in sponsoring the Auto Show or purchasing a vendor space contact Elizabeth Canupp at egcanupp@greenville.k12.sc.us or (864)355.0082.
